The Society was incorporated according to Swiss civil law in 1987. The official base of the AJA is Romainmôtier. The original purpose was the restoration of the Alain organ, and was completed in 1991 with the help of numerous sponsors, of the Canton de Vaud and the Swiss Confederation. The organ was declared a historical monument of national significance in 1991. There is a agreement between the AJA and the Confederation, another one with the Swiss Organ Museum, and a third one with the Concert society and the Parish of Romainmôtier (AOR). These agreements secure the onward life of the organ in case the AJA should disappear or become unable to carry out its duties. Other instruments were given or promised to the AJA : a piano and a practice organ (cf. yearly report 2013/14, pages. 5-6), the Alain harmonium and the house organ of Luigi Ferdinando Tagliavini. Except for these instruments, the Society has no possessions of any kind, and the organ room is rented from the Romainmôtier Foundation.
The yearly business period of the AJA runs from the beginning of June to the end of May, and the General Assembly takes place mid-June. A brochure is printed after the assembly and is sent to all members, containing all legal reports and financial information ; and some general informations.
