The association is legally constituted according to the provisions of the Swiss Civil Code. Founded in 1987, it is based in Romainmôtier. Its initial goal was to carry out the restoration of the Alain organ, a goal that was achieved in 1991 thanks to the support of numerous patrons, the canton of Vaud, and the Swiss Confederation. The organ was classified as a historical monument in 1991 and is subject to an agreement between the AJA and the Confederation, as well as another agreement with the Association des Concerts de Romainmôtier and the Parish of Romainmôtier.
These agreements aim to ensure its preservation in case of the dissolution of the AJA. Other instruments have been donated, promised, or bequeathed to the association: a piano and a practice organ (see 2013/14 report, pp. 5-6), the two Alain harmoniums, and the salon organ of Luigi Ferdinando Tagliavini. Apart from these items, the AJA has no patrimonial assets and rents the organ space from the Romainmôtier Foundation.
The AJA’s fiscal year runs from early June to the end of May, and the general assembly takes place in mid-June. A brochure is published after the general assembly and sent to members, containing statutory reports, the year’s financial statements, and some additional information.
